Venture Development Studio

A hub for founders to collaborate, validate and build... with confidence.

We work alongside technology founders from early concept through product development, market validation, growth and funding—providing the knowledge, guidance and hands-on support needed to navigate each stage of the venture.

01

Why HubCoLabs

Building shouldn't be the first step. Building the right thing should be.

Early-stage founders face dozens of decisions before their venture is ready: Is the problem real? What should the first product actually do? What should be built now? What can wait? When is it time to involve an attorney, accountant, engineer or another specialist? And when is the venture actually ready to pursue capital?

Making those decisions in the wrong order can cost months and significant capital. HubCoLabs helps founders navigate those decisions, test assumptions early, and use what is learned to determine what should happen next.

The goal isn't to build the most product. It's to build enough of the right product to learn what should happen next.

Developing the venture — and the founder

Every stage of building a venture brings new questions, decisions and challenges. As the business develops, the person leading it develops alongside it.

That's why HubCoLabs develops the venture and founder simultaneously throughout the process.

Your venture

What does the business need next?

What have we learned? What assumptions still need testing? What should we build? What can wait? What will move the venture forward?

You and your team

What capabilities already exist?

What level of expertise do you and your team bring? Where are your strongest capabilities? What do you need to understand, learn or become better at for the next stage?

Founder Navigation

You don't need to know everything—and you certainly don't need to pay for everything on day one. Throughout our work together, we'll determine what you and your team can reasonably handle yourselves, where HubCoLabs can support you, what isn't necessary yet, and when specialized expertise makes sense.

That could mean an attorney, CPA, IP professional, specialized engineer, cybersecurity expert, designer, or another professional whose expertise the venture genuinely needs.

04

Start Where You Are

You don't need every solution. You need the right next step.

Every founder and venture comes to HubCoLabs at a different stage. You may have an idea that needs validation, a product that's ready to prototype, an MVP that needs testing, or a working venture preparing for growth or capital.

Already validated your idea? Move forward. Already have a prototype? Test or build from it. Already generating traction? Focus on growth or funding.

You don't pay us to redo work you don't need.

05

Solutions & Pricing

Build your venture one stage at a time. Each engagement is independently scoped so you can begin where you need support and move forward when you're ready.

Our Approach

Learn before you build.

A startup begins with assumptions—about the client, the problem, the solution, the business model and the product. Our job is to help turn those assumptions into evidence.

We start with the questions that can be answered through research, client conversations, experimentation and planning. Then we make the idea tangible through prototyping and real-world testing before committing unnecessary time and resources to development.

The product isn't the goal. Learning to create a great product is.

Interactive prototypeanswers questions before functional development.

Functional prototypeanswers questions before an MVP.

MVPanswers questions before investing in a full-scale product.

Love to Connect $125K

proposed full-platform build

~$1K

direct development costs for a working MVP, plus founder time

The experience that helped shape HubCoLabs

While developing Love to Connect, I reached the point many founders eventually face: turning a detailed product vision into working technology.

A development studio proposed approximately $125,000 to build the platform. The proposal could have resulted in a well-built product, but there were still important questions about the client experience, product flow and functionality that needed to be answered.

Instead of committing immediately to full development, I started building and experimenting. Using AI-assisted development tools and approximately $1,000 in direct development costs, I created a working MVP that could be accessed through a real URL, demonstrated to others and used to continue testing the concept.

The biggest result wasn't the difference in development cost. It was what became possible once the idea became real.

Client conversations became more specific. Product weaknesses became visible. New ideas emerged. The experience could be tested instead of explained. Investor conversations became possible. And my confidence as a founder changed because I could finally see and demonstrate what I had been trying to create.

We're now conducting more in-depth potential-client research and interviews, using what we learn to continue improving Love to Connect. The next stage is introducing the product to initial clients, continuing to iterate, and beginning to pursue investor funding. Love to Connect is also part of the SmartStart business incubator.

The concept behind HubCoLabs came from experiencing the founder journey firsthand.

Bringing an idea to life isn't only about great engineering and sound product development. At some point, you realize that you also need to develop as your venture grows. The great thing is, you don't have to do it alone.

I've spent more than two decades working across startups, technology, business development, sales and fundraising. I've worked alongside founders and business owners, helped develop products and bring them to market, raised capital, coached people, and spent much of my career learning how to listen, ask better questions and understand what someone actually needs.

And I've made plenty of mistakes.

One of the hardest lessons for me as a founder was learning to really listen to other people—even when what they were telling me conflicted with what I wanted to believe. There were assumptions I held onto too long, things I thought I understood that I didn't, and moments when the venture forced me to confront something about myself rather than something about the product.

Do I actually want this to become a serious company?

Because there's a difference between wanting to have a startup and accepting the responsibility of building a company.

If you want an idea to become a real product, become profitable, serve clients and someday employ even ten people, the venture eventually asks more of you. You have to become better at making decisions, listening, communicating, managing yourself, understanding money, accepting uncertainty, leading people and recognizing when you're wrong.

We'll do our best to make smart decisions. We'll research. We'll ask questions. We'll test assumptions. We'll build. And when something doesn't work—and something eventually won't—we won't pretend otherwise. We'll learn from it, adjust and keep moving.

I'm also building my own technology startup and moving it toward initial revenue, continued iteration and investor readiness.

Experience I bring to the process

My experience coaching people and training at the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) developed my passion for genuinely listening, asking the right questions and getting to the root of what someone needs.

I've applied that while working closely with startup founders and established business owners across concept development, commercialization, product marketing, user acquisition, client engagement, presentations and product development.

I helped design and execute a Kickstarter campaign for Ozmo that raised $38,000, surpassing its original $30,000 goal, with the capital supporting product development. I've also worked in major gifts and fundraising event leadership, contributing across all aspects of fundraising and personally raising more than $1.3 million over a 16-month period for mental health and recovery/housing causes.

Andres Florez, founder of HubCoLabs

My sales background includes technology with Verizon, banking with Wells Fargo, and real estate with Intero Real Estate Services, later acquired by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.

I earned my bachelor's degree in International Business Management from San Jose State University, participated in the Honors Program, was recognized among the Top 30 International Business students in 2011, and was selected for a highly selective inaugural international internship team with Crown Worldwide Inc. in Hong Kong.

Most recently, building Love to Connect from concept into a functioning technology product has deepened my experience in product strategy, prototyping, AI-assisted development, testing and the technical process behind bringing a technology product to life.

Those experiences matter. But they're not why I created HubCoLabs.

I created it because building something meaningful is hard work, and I believe founders benefit from having someone beside them who cares about understanding the idea, understanding the person behind it, asking the difficult questions, celebrating the progress and helping figure out what comes next.

If you're serious about building your venture, I'm here to facilitate the process, work hard on your behalf, and collaborate with you to give your idea a real chance to become a reality.

Because developing a great idea requires developing both the concept and the person responsible for bringing it to life.
